Blah Blah Blah

I've been scarce lately. I think finishing Dirty Business has rendered me silent in terms of blogging and any other writing, with the exception of emails, except for the synopsis and query letter. But I am thinking about writing. All the time.

In the shower I realized the other morning that there were issues I want to address in the next Leah Ryan/Jackson Quick book that I hadn't realized I wanted to expand upon. The more I think about it, the more I want to make the next book from Jack's point of view rather than Leah's, and so consequently, Jack is throwing scenes up behind my eyes and talking to me pretty much non-stop about his history. Stuff I wasn't aware of.

Pretty interesting shit, really.

I love Jack. He's my dream friend. I love spending time on the page and in my head with him. Of course, if I were actually spending time with him in real life, I may become disenchanted before long. I'd get pissed at him cleaning up after me and generally being my conscious. But on the page and in my mind, he's perfection to me. All the flaws that make up Jackson are battle scars from his life that make him wonderful and beautiful.

I don't know if I can get his voice right. I may have to write his book in third person. Leah would spend a lot of time on the page too, of course. But this story won't be from her point of view. This one is Jack's story.

I'm excited about writing it. I have a plot loosely drawn out in my mind. But I refuse to write anything down until I have the synposis and query letter for Dirty Business finished. I'm also still scolding myself for ditching The Collectors in favor of Dirty Business, and feel like the fair and good thing to do would be to finish the damn thing.

*Sigh*

Jeff and I watched The Strangers last night. I wasn't happy with the ending. I don't think you should drag your characters through total shit and mayhem and not give the audience some kind of pay off at the end. But that's me. I think the bad guy should eventually get his/her ass kicked.

That doesn't mean that good guys can't die. It means that the villain (s) need to get theirs. Or at least be badly wounded. I don't think it's fair for a villain to get away completely Scott free.

Fading fast, so I'm signing off.

Oct 29th tomorrow. *Que spooky music* Halloween is getting closer. My little guy has his first Halloween party at his daycare tomorrow. He's so excited. I can't go because I've left early so many times in the last little while to get him when he was burning up with a fever at the daycare, and taken a half day and two full days for him being sick. I wouldn't feel right leaving early for his party :(

But Jeff is going. So at least one of us will be there :)

Have a spooky night!

Rainy Sunday

Still plugging away at the synopsis. It was cool yesterday, so instead of doing a parking lot session I pretended to leave the house while Jeff took over with Ben, then snuck downstairs and did my writing session there.

It was nice, because I pulled the reclining chair in front of the big glass window down there and had a gorgeous picture of the yard with the colourful leaves falling from the trees. The yard was covered with red, yellow and orange. Jeff wasn't thrilled, being the one to pick them up. But it's not so bad using the lawn tractor :)

The bean didn't nap for me yesterday, but I just put him down and things are looking hopeful. So I'm going at it again while Cujo plays in AMC in the background.

Rain is making my allergies go nuts. It's kicking my ass. Thank God for allergy pills.

Back at it I go.

Synopsis and Blood

Home with the little guy who has step :( So hoping to make a dent in the synopsis. Wish me luck. In the spirit of Halloween, here is Concrete Blonde's Bloodletting. Always love listening to this one around this time of year.

Groggy Talk

Got a start on the synopsis. Usually that's the hardest part for me. Got a thumbs up from one reader on Dirty Business. Other than a couple of typos and vehicle inconsistencies, she loves it, and wishes only that she had the next Leah Ryan book in hand right now.

Thank you, Linda. You rock. *Hugz*

It's been a nutty, insane day at work and I'm almost blind I'm so bleary-eyed, so I'll keep this post short.

Plus, I was awake at 4:30 this a.m, and realizing that I had to get up at 5:00 to do the work out, stayed awake. So I'm just a tad bit groggy.

Over and out

Friday Blither

Not much new to report. Been a busy week. My little guy is finally better, which means I've been able to do 3 work outs this week. It means that I have to drag my ass out of bed at 5 a.m, but I've been doing it.

I plan on at least getting a dent put in the synopsis this weekend. We'll see how that plays out. I need to write a query letter, too. I'm anxious to read over what I'd done The Collectors before I ditched it for Dirty Business. See if I want to continue with it or start something else.

Cold and rainy here in New York.

This and That Chatter

Crazy weekend. I did get a parking lot session in on Saturday morning, and did a spell check on Dirty Business. Now the synopsis.

But we had a birthday party for one of the boys and spent a lot of the weekend busy for that. So people over yesterday. Fun but now I'm drained. Social events always do that to me.

I did get up at 5 a.m for the work-out. Was Monday, so crazy day. I'm pretty much shot. Was a gorgeous weekend weather wise, though. Got to spend some time outside with the critter.

Has it really almost been a year since I began this book? I can't even fathom it. Wow. Removed my winner badge from last year from the blog because Nano is getting geared up to begin again, and so the badge says "0" words. Not sure if I want to do that again this year. I may do it unofficially and not actually sign up. Undecided.

Need to get off this thing and de-stress. Night all.

:Yaaaaawn:

Little guy is sick again :( Lots of bugs going around the daycare, and he's gone from private sitters to the daycare environment, and is catching everything going around.

This has made it difficult to even think much about the book let alone begin a synopsis for it. I'd love to be able to take the time to run a spell check on the document.

I'll do that this weekend, though. Now that he has new antibiotics and a nebulizer, he is sleeping better, which means I'm sleeping better. I had the first good sleep in three weeks last night. It was heavenly.

At least I have written the words, "The End". Took less than a year to get 'er done, with a toddler and a full-time job. Not shabby, really.

I'm shot. Off to bed with me.

Shudder

Nothing on the synopsis yesterday or today. Little guy has a new virus. Some kind of cold thing. Poor little critter. This is the third bug he's caught in the last month. He doesn't totally get over one before something else gets him. This is the wonderful world of daycare, I suppose. Colds. Bacterial infections. The gifts that keep on giving.

Jeff had me almost rolling on the floor today. He made a trip to Walmart with the bean and donated to the scouts that were there, got a package of popcorn for his donation. Cool. All was well and good.

Until he went to Sam's right after Walmart, where another cluster of boy scouts were gathered in front of the doors. They asked him if he'd like to donate to the scouts. He said, "Oh, I already got ya at Walmart Buddy, to which one scout, with long, stringy, greasy hair and pants half-down his ass, hands in pockets, in a perpetual slouch, yelled, "You're a liar!"

Jeff had planned on getting the little one into the truck before pulling up in front of the curb and whipping the package of popcorn at the kid, but thought better of it, picturing an old lady getting caught in the crossfire and getting beaned in the head by the popcorn. To which he says he'd exclaim, "Oh, sorry! I meant to hit the boy scout!"

Woudln't look good to the bean, or to the police, really.

But girl and boy scouts aren't what they used to be. Today we went to a pumpkin patch/fall fair type thing, where a group of both were kicking pumpkins until they broke, tossing them into a pond, and generally acting like a bunch of young hoodlums. Really not a good scene. My two and a half year old was appalled by their behavior.

What kills me is that none of the adults with this group said a word to them. WTF?

This is the future? This is the best we can do? Wow.

I think I need to ready a horror book to lift my spirits and help me sleep, because that, my friends, scares the hell out of me.
