Publishing News

Juno Books has become and fantasy imprint of Pocket Books. This is amazing, because Juno has only been around since 2006. Congrats to Juno! Can't wait to see what they release! More info on Juno's Blog .

Hope you're all having a great weekend. I have an eye appointment, so I have to go out into the cold blast. But if I put off the appointment I'll be walking into walls. Even more than usual.

Later all!

What the Hell?

I turn on the news or read CNN and I can't believe my eyes or my ears. The whole Casey Anthony thing has me so angry. Every so often one of these sociopathic mothers kills her children because they kids are getting in the way of something she wants. Usually the reason is a man, who doesn't want kids.

Same thing happened with Diane Downs who shot her three children and blamed it on a shaggy haired stranger, and Susan Smith, who blamed her children's disappearance on a black man who carjacked her and took her kids. She'd actually pushed her car, with her two little boys in the back seat, into a lake and watched them sink into the water.

I'd written about 90 pages of a book dealing with this very same thing, but abandoned it because it was so emotionally draining for me. I may pick up where I left off at some point, but for now it'll stay filed away on the laptop.

As a human being I'm outraged and disgusted at parents like this. As a mother, I'm astonished and outraged. It's human nature to want to protect children. It's instinct for a parent to do anything to keep their kids safe. What has happened to a parent who would kill their own children. I find it especially unbelievable that a mother would intentionally cause any harm to her children, never mind actually looking them in their little faces and murdering them.

How does that happen?

No matter how many studies I'd read on the topic, I'll never quite get it. It's so alien to me. My heart breaks for these babies who never really had a chance.
