Finally!

Excellent writing session last night. My hero started talking to me. Up until now it's only been my herione. His name is Toby, short for October, and he's been floating around in my mind for at least three years, if not four. I have him in a short story I wrote three years ago. He's been standoffish. Aloof. Frustrating.

But last night, for reasons beyond me (but I won't look a gift horse in the mouth), he started talking and it was amazing. Telling me a bit about his history. Just enough for things to make sense. A HUGE part of the puzzle has slid into place. After I wrote the scene I felt as if I were just gazing at that piece in awe, for hours.

I was so excited that it took me more time than usual to get to sleep. I'm still stoked.

He's a man of few words, but what he does say speaks volumes. Here's hoping he keeps talking.

Congrats to Alexandra Sokoloff! Her short story The Edge of Seventeen won the thriller award for Best Short Fiction! Anyone who hasn't read any of her stuff really should. She's fantastic.

Okay, back to work for me!
