Well, baby was pretty fussy yesterday. He wouldn't sleep more than about 15 minutes or so, and that was only twice during the day. The rest of the time he was extremely high maintenance, which is really not like him. I think he got himself overtired. Doing the five loads of laundry I managed to do was a trick.
But Ben doesn't mind if I lean him against some pillows so that he can watch me fold clothes, if I sing tunelessly (is there any other way, really?) the entire time. He'll at least humor me and smile and laugh a lot. I get the laughing reaction to my singing frequently.
Anyway, during those two short breaks I wrote a little. When he would stay somewhat calm, I wrote a little. I ended up with four pages. But it was a day that, given the time, I could've done at least 10. I was just up for it. I'm hoping that this restless mood of his passes. I think he may have some kind of bug. But also, he's started rolling onto his stomach and back (my wonderful babysitter got it on video for me while I was working, since I missed this milestone) and so he wants to be doing that all the time instead of napping.
Today I need to shop for a dress for a wedding we're going to. I really don't want to take the time away from the writing, but I can't very well show up there in my favorite worn out jeans, can I? Though given my druthers I would.
Maybe I'll get lucky and he'll take a nice, long nap later.
Later all.

Woohoo!
On Thursday night I sat and wrote 7 pages! Count 'em, 7! I'm pretty stolked about this. I did some plotting yesterday while I was doing a tedious part of my job. Sometimes I use those ideas I come up with when I'm doing a mindless task, sometimes I don't. I try not to lock myself into them.
I think part of the reason I had such trouble pulling pages out of myself with Back to life, (aside from suffering from baby brain) the book I was working on last year, is that I was trying to stick to my plot map. The other reason is that I just have far too much going on. But Back to Life really is a problem child. It needs serious work, and I need a break from it. So I'm doing the short story. And maybe another after that. The short story is jump-starting my creativity again.
So in between lots of loads of laundry and the myriad things involved in taking care of baby, I'll get a few more pages down today, hopefully.
Have a great day, all!

Wowza
Holy smokes! This story is just bulleting along. It's like a freight train. Writing hasn't been this easy since Repo Chick. But I don't want to jinx it. If this magical writing streak continues, I'll be finshed the first draft in no time.
I've been writing during Ben's naps, so I'm hoping that he's a very sleepy baby at least until the rough draft is done. I'm at 4,000 words right now. Not sure exactly how long it'll be, but probably not a whole lot longer. It is a short story, after all.
I have an idea for another short story after this one. *Grin* Woohoo! I'm stoked!
Have a good day everyone!

Creep Out
I've decided to tackle a short-story to get me in the mood again, so I'm writing a spooky, creepy story, which gives even me the willies. It's a lot of fun! I'm having a blast. Making time to write has been interesting. Have to be creative. But to add to that challenge is the fact that babies tend to go back and forth on the whole sleeping the night thing.
So last night, I had some time with Ben sleeping on his boppy next to me, but I was so tired from being up every hour the night before that I got one paragraph written before my head dropped back on the couch and I dropped of to snooze land.
But I'm determined to get this sucker done, come hell or high water, within a couple of weeks.
So there!
