Week 34

Hey all. Saturday morning. My fingers and ankles are swollen and I feel like a barn with legs and arms, but as of tomorrow I've finished week 34!! Woohoo!! So the really heavy risk stuff is over. Another couple of more weeks and the little guy won't even need an incubator!

I have a belated holiday party for work tonight. It's at a fancy schmancy golf course. I ordered the prime rib, and can't wait to chow down on it. But I'm tired, damn it! We've had something to do every weekend and I'm so bushed. But I was on the party committee and I really need to go. Oh well. A girl's gotta eat, right? Thing is, it's from about 6 pm until 10 tonight. And although they all want us there early, I think we'll end up showing up nearing the end of the 2 hour cocktail hour. Closer to 8 o'clock. It's just too long to sit there for me. I can't do anything for too long these days!

The weather sucks too. It's really windy, chilly and wet out there. Yesterday we had freezing rain and ice. I cancelled my weekly appointment with the doc until Monday. But it's still really wet out there. Puddles everywhere! The dog isn't happy. She can't go lie down in snow or grass. It's all watery out there. So she's pestering me to entertain her this morning. Good luck doggie! She's enormous! Other than hugging and petting her, and giving her treats, there's not much I can do in this state!

In other news, the wonderful and way talented Lyn Cash is doing a really cool and interesting writer's workshop Feb 4rth to the 25th. Not the run of the mill writer's workshop. She'll be focusing on family histories in writing. I think that's really neat. Check it out.

Also, our wonderful and twisted Stuart MacBride has posted something really nifty on his blog about the Scottish version of NaNoWriMo called Write Here, Right Now. This looks like a fantastic idea. You can sign up for the newsletter, which has tips from various crime writers, including our lovely Stewart, about how to write a crime novel. I signed up for the newsletter even though I won't be participating this time around.

As for my own writing, for the last while it's been a bit of a pipe dream. It's just so hard to find focus these days with so much going on. But I've decided not to beat myself up about it too much. At least I'm doing a bit of reading before bed :)

Have a great day all!
